From start to finish!
A lot of people been inquiring on how to make avatars, while others just wanna out right purchase them but the dollar amount seems staggering. However, I assure you after reading what it takes LOL you are gonna say OMFG! unless you are crazy like us and willing to take on the challenge
If you would like to take on the challenge on making custom avatars or your avatar, here's a start to finish tutorial.
Keep in mind a few things, you will need animations for.......
Walk Front (8 frames of animation)
Walk Back (8 frames of animation)
Walk Side (8 frames of animation)
Dance (4 frames of animation)
Sit (1 still frame)
Drink (2 frames of animation)
Stand (1 still frame)
what do you do for an animation? ever drew a heart on the corner of a book and drew an arrow on the other corner? and with each page you had to draw the arrow closer and closer to the heart till it reached the heart? same concept here with avatars. You need to move each joint to move flawlessly or it will be jumpy. So that's 30 frames of animation that needs to be done.
This is just the begining. After the above is completed, you need to import all the frames, vectorize then export them into AI files. From there import the files into flash, put them in order, resize, then recolor them EACH FRAME. Why recolor them you may ask? cause when you zoom into the avatar you will see tiny shades of colors that is not needed. Skin needs to be only 2 colors and same as the clothes.
Also, Eyebrows and eyes needs to be redone along with lips. You free hand draw them, Then you take your eye for example and you copy and paste on each frame that has an eyes. Resize and skew it to the right angle. same for the lips. This is for all 24 frames since walking towards the back you don't see the avatars face.
If you are ready to move on with the tutorial.... here it is
